Building Farmday

startup story and tech stack

A growing startup is full of excitement, especially when you’re creating something new. At Farmday we’re first and foremost creating a supportive community, and part of that is building out in the open and sharing about our business and technical journey.

We’re writing this article to share about our story, using a familiar framework to introduce Farmday in anticipation of our presale and upcoming projects.

Farms and startups rely on playbooks, industry standards, interoperability, sharing knowledge, collaboration and there are many successful examples for us to draw from.

Planting the seeds

Our farming and startup journey started decades ago, with stops in Colombia, France, Israel, California and New York. Growing up visiting family farms, doing our part, and professionally as operations and technical leaders for startups.

Visualizing and manifesting

After drafting a concept idea and speaking to lawyers about the viability, we spoke to some farm owners about their potential interest to validate the idea. And reached out to friends that would be interested in supporting us to put together a team and plan.

We explored legal, payment and computing providers to kickstart our infrastructure and craft a viable technical roadmap for a secure launch.

Human driven, data assisted

With two colombians and a french person that met in NYC, this is an international endeavor from the start. Our cultures value and appreciate the connection to the land, the flavors, cuisine, and abundant possibilities to bring a new approach to the industry.

Economies of scale will allow us to provide better resources to many farms that can benefit from focusing on their land while our operators support their payroll, sales, distribution and acquisitions.

If not now, when

Fractional ownership as a concept has been validated by other startups, there has been welcomed legal and technical innovations that we leverage to safely offer a vehicle to support the growth and development of projects, and participate in a friendly community.

We’re starting in Colombia where we are familiar with the people and the properties that can guarantee good results to launch and help us grow towards expanding to more places, developing as it makes sense.

Colombia has a large growth potential, with areas that were previously unsafe opening for business, and improving infrastructure, our investments support smart businesses and the development of the region.

Environmental Values

Nature conservation and sustainable agricultural development are fundamentals of society, nature teaches us about abundance, growth and life. We work to integrate those values and lessons into our governance and create a sustainable enterprise that benefits everyone involved.
